New Wave Industries, Inc. releases Boston Freedom Trail App to Apple App Store and Android Market

Newington, CT – July 9, 2010 – New Wave Industries, Inc. (www.newwaveindustries.com), a Connecticut based technology firm, released Apple and Android versions of its new Boston Freedom Trail App (www.bostonfreedomtrailapp.com).  The mobile application takes users on an interactive, self-guided tour of the historical sites along Boston’s famous Freedom Trail. 

In addition to the 16 official stops on the Freedom Trail, the Boston Freedom Trail App also includes many other unofficial stops as points of interest that might otherwise be overlooked.  “We wanted to give the user as much historical information as possible, while delivering it in a way that keeps them entertained,” said Jon Rondeau, New Wave Industries’ CEO.  “Our goal is to provide users with an interactive experience that allows them to take a completely self guided tour at their own pace, while learning about Boston as the birthplace of our nation."

The mobile App incorporates HD video footage, written text, photos and audio so the user can choose how to experience the tour, and geo-location and maps ensure they don’t get lost along the way.  “In this app-crazed world where people rely on their mobile devices for information, this App project allowed us to bridge the gap between history and technology,” said Jamie Welch, Vice President of Marketing at New Wave Industries.

In the past, printed materials and organized tours were the only options for people interested in the Freedom Trail.  New Wave’s Boston Freedom Trail App provides another resource for travelers and historical enthusiasts anywhere to instantly access information about these Massachusetts landmarks along the  Freedom Trail, including hours of operation, restroom locations and handicap accessibility.  “When we designed the Boston Freedom Trail App we wanted to create it in a way that would allow anyone from around the world to virtually walk the Freedom Trail even if they were not able to be there in person,” said Rondeau. "I have a love of history, and Boston has always been a special place for me, so this was the natural place for us to launch our first travel App.”
